I wonder if anyone has ever put a Scandi grind on the Opinel knife? Really I want to know how to put a Scandi grind on any other knife.

How would one measure how far up to grind the blade?

I would appreciate anyone who has done this to reply.

Thank you kindly, Bryan

    In response to ozarksharpener

A "scandi grind" is normally from the ridge line flat to the edge (like a puukko). Since Opinels have no ridge line, it would mean reprofiling the entire blade from back to edge (taking off a heck of a lot of metal). I've used Opinels and find they sharpen up very well with normal sharpening/honing. I hone mine to approximately a 15 degree edge and they are razor sharp, will pass the phonebook paper cutting test like going through warm butter. This applies to both the carbon and stainless Opinel blades.
