This is another knife I bought at an estate sale. The mans father was in the Navy in WWII and he claimed he was issued this knife. It says KA BAR on the Guard and USN MK2 on the other side. There are no other markings on the knife. It was obviously parkerized at one time. It has seen a lot of wear.
I have a sheath but it is not the original and is obviously hand made and held together with aluminum pop rivets.

Welcome to KF!!!

I'm no expert, but the handle looks odd, to me.
All the ones I have seen had a slightly "mushroomed" butt cap and a palm swell. I think most had grooves in the handle for grip.I have seen one without grooves....a special model for UDT teams...it had a bright blade AFAIK.

I will be interested in more opinions.

I had the same reaction. Having spent 20 years in the Coast Guard I have seen a lot of KA BARs and none of them looked like this one.

I'm betting on it being rehandled with the pommel either replaced or reshaped.
The beatings will continue until morale has improved
