I'm right handed, and I have the utmost respect for my left handed brethren. I'm wondering if there are any distinct advantages to being proficient with a knife with one's other hand?

I'm thinking of a bad scenario where I'm in a survival position and I injure my right hand. In that kind of situation, I would be very glad I took the time to become ambidextrous.

But I'm also curious if there are any other benefits that aren't as obvious. I know this is a strange question but just humor me, it has been on my mind lately and if I think too much it might start to hurt

I go both ways depending on what I'm doing.

I just read an article on the net today the U.S. invented a grenade that GI's are able to thow with either hand equally as well. The difference is explained in the article.
