So a brand spanking new Helle Fjellkniven just arrived today. I love how it feels in my hand, I love the size and shape of the blade, and I love that it even came marvelously sharp out of the box (which looks like a Scotch whiskey container).

Buuuuuut, it is really mirror-like. It is so shiny it looks like one of those cheap $5 diving knives. To me, at least, that is a turnoff.

Any of you guys have any suggestions as to what I can do? Is there a way to safely abraid the shininess from the surface? Make it look more like steal and less like chrome?

Any ideas welcome. Many thanks!

Hello!
Steel wool or ultra-fine sandpaper might do the trick, but you may remove the blade markings.
If you want just the edge to be more "matt", just sharpen the knife...

But better still: use it and give it all the battle scars it deserves.

Contact Ragnar @ Ragweed Forge and see what he suggests.
