Username Post: Came across S/244/g Bayonet        (Topic#939901)

I am new to this forum and I am looking for a little history info on a bayonet I purchased. It is a WWII S/244G K-98 bayonet.(Unmatched)From what little info I came across this model, it is a import? As I understand it they were sent to Spain? the knife has no markings on it other then the numbers stamped behind the grips? I don't know if this lack of marking makes it rare or common? its was in rough shape or at least looked that way till I cleaned it with some WD40 an elbow grease. Any info is greatly appreciated...

(if my pics are to big please delete them as I don't not know how to resize them)

Your bayonet has a muzzle ring, the German Sg84/98 (Kar98k bayonet) did not. Since there are no markings on your bayonet, it is hard to say without a close examination what it is but the condition appears to be reasonably nice.

Here is a link that tells you a little about the 84/98 bayonet

Welcome to the forums.

I can't do links. If you google, S244G bayonet, you will find full info on your bayonet. Select the post on German Bayonets. Yours is an export thats why it is unmarked. You may have a rare one but still a good find.
