I bought mine from Knifeworks. They have the new ceramic as mentioned in the DC4 thread. I am waiting for a comment on why the change or what the difference is. Initially it seems a bit coarse, but that may change with time. The instructions imply that it will, but are not very specific as to whether the comment applies to the diamond, ceramic, or both sides. I have only used it to sharpen the tip of a knife, so I cannot really evaluate it yet.

    Sorry guys
No new DC stone here. So I can't comment.

i recently picked one up, pre-owned + practically un-used .. couldnt resist since i really like the diamond-side of the DC4

the ceramic side [theres like an ACRE] is much darker than my DC4 ceramic, now separated, just fell apart in the wash one day

im still evaluating, it seems a different beast altogether tho, partly because of sheer SIZE

    also got the DF24

visually the 'ceramic' side seems more like fine blue emery under a bright light

    its fast-cutting ok

Somewhere I have read the old DC ceramic contains synthetic rubies. Maybe the mixture was changed.
