I think he is talking about the Arit...

    Primarily a farm tool, right?

Originally a sickle, but evolved into a larger form used in silat martial arts. I remember reading somewhere that the smaller sickle is an arit, the larger one like I have (28.5" measured like a khukuri) is a celurit (or maybe klurit). Not much info published about them or online.
Shown above, some specimens from Anthony C. Tirri's wonderful book Islamic Weapons: Maghrib to Mogul.
"What does this have to do with khukuris?" Another dual-use tool/weapon with a curved blade, or as Bill would have said, "Everything".

It would make a fearsome home defense tool...

or short work of those pesky weeds out back.

I'm thinkin' the weeds would just collapse in terror if you even hauled that thing outside! It's definitely more of a tool than anything else, can you imagine trying to belt-sheath that?

I believe more than just weeds collapse in terror.

Would come in handy for herding your hoard too.

Eh, weeds, neighbors, small dogs, same difference.

Bonus points for being able to wrap the tip in duct tape and get stuff off tall shelves!
