Does that modification move the balance point further towards the handle? Overall shape looking a bit like the shorter 1960's British Military Survival Knife

The balance point change is negligible. I also took off a bit of weight when I rounded the handle..

It feels a lot more lively in the hand but I think that is more to do with the improved ergonomics of the handle after I sanded it down a bit.

Not a huge amount of steel was removed. I looks and feels a lot better than my phone camera presents it.

Cant wait to make a nice Kydex sheath.. I am thinking Chocolate Brown.

Very nice mate!!! You are happy with holding it, I am with looking at it. Is it convex?

I really like what you've done, the rainbow colors look great, is it oil on it or some high heat patina?

Where did you buy it?

A bit of weight off the tip can make a big difference - it's called angular momentum

thanks. Svord are convex, and i've redone the convex myself. the coloring comes from the heattreat, and then the rainbow effect is from quenching, or softening the spine.. not sure exactly.

there are a few places around selling svord. ill pm you

Very very true.. in this case it feels like it has the same swing.. the BP is just over 3" forward of the handle.. it was approx the same before +/- 1/2"

but with the rounding and smoothing out of the handle it just feels more responsive.. to keep the cost down on the economy line the handles are rough cut and Chamfered so they are certainly not uncomfortable, but not the same as a handle with more effort put in. with it resting in the hand better now and a more narrow choke area I feel snap cutting is better.

I cant wait to go give it a test run

Great Job! I typicly do the same. You really did a nice job on that machete, it makes my modifications look like a monkey did it lol. The nice thing about good carbon steel is it is a pleasure to re-work and really takes a nice edge. I am sure that blade will see years of service, and probably become one of your favorites

What I want to know does this mod do any good toward making this a decent rock chopper, I got a Svord bush sword from Kiley and if all you want to do is chop down 4 or 5 inch trees I suppose it would be ok But and This is a BIG BUT, if you live in a area like mine where flintrocks rule supreme and need to chop a couple rocks, these things fall way shot of ideal, My very first rock which btw was on its maiden expedition caused the blade to chip!! Needless to say I was very dissapointed!!!

Larry, I offered to sell you the Rubber Bumper that fits on the second half of your edge

The problem is that those rocks of yours are stubborn and dont want to move out of the way
