"As they say in Italy, Italians were eating with a knife and fork when the French were still eating each other. The Medici family had to bring their Tuscan cooks up there so they could make something edible"
Great job man! That's a real beauty!
I too am a huge fan of the oz timbers. Nothing like it I reckon!
Where are you in NSW?
Also have you ever worked with burls? They make a beautiful knife.
Oh and where did you get the blade from? I wish knife making were a bit bigger here in aus. so more people would sell blades and tools etc.
I am in Bega on the Far South Coast. I bring in my blades from either Brisa or Ragweed. Keith Spencer from the Australian Knife Collectors stocks some scandi blades in addition to other knife making supplies. The range is not huge but adequate. Typically I am able to scrounge for materials for bolsters and the like but use his vulcanised fibre in both my blades and bows.
I have not worked a lot with burls, but have recently picked up some pieces from a business called "Brads Burls" in Ingleside in NSW. Very reasonably priced and a huge range of timbers in stock. He supplies some burls to Brisa.
Many thanks to others that have passed on their words of encouragement here and inspiration in other posts.

Thanks for that steve.
I'm on the southern highlands.
Ah yes Shen from Brads burls. He's a good bloke if there ever was one.
I get a lot of my stuff for knives, bowls, pens etc. from him.
I will have to look in to this Keith fella. I found that postage from brisa too expensive so I never ended up buying anything from them. did you find a way to get them to reduce postage costs?
By the way I am in awe of you for making bows. I do a bit of archery (shooting rabbits etc.) and went in to abbey archery in castle hill and was dumbfounded by the timber bows. Its a dream of mine to make a bow.
Any idea how I find out what Keith has in stock? I couldn't find a website.
Thanks again mate
