I inheritade a knife in the early 90's and it's been in my drawer since. It is a very large "survival knife" which I always thought was to big to be practical. But the other night I happend to see one for sale and I dug it out and it has a serial type number under the gaurd and an RP kinda formed together on the blade. I would like to know more about it, and I hate that if it's a collectable it's been setting in my drawer instead of some one enjoying it . any info would be awsome thanks..
I tried with scanner and camera and can't get it to show up . It's etched into blade with no really color diffrence of blade. It's on left side of blade about an 1/2" from gaurd , the R is upperleft and P is attached to R at bottom right.Does that help any ? I'll keep trying to get photo's of it this week.
And the # on bottom of guard is 984285. The edge is 8" the knife total is 12 1/2" the o.d of handle is 1" and the handle is textured and there is a compass in the screw cap , it says made in west germany.
That does indeed look like a real Robert Parrish survival knife. I've seen them go in the $600 range in excellent condition, perhaps up to $900 in mint condition, to the right person.

Looks like it's held up quite well. It's a Parrish Survival-Combat if what I've read is accurate. Mr. Parrish's take on the hollow-handle craze, in my opinion, still looks pretty darn good. I would think finding a buyer would be no problem whatsoever.
