Theres a few mail order ways (from CCK Hong Kong, or Toronto store) where I've heard you can order a CCK, but the shipping is usually an arm and a leg.

I know there are 2 stores in the Los Angeles area that carry 'em. Its where I got mine.

Unless you have a Los Angeles trip coming soon, I'll volunteer to go over to the store to buy the CCK cleaver, and ship it to you at cost. Same for anyone else who's interested.

Nick (fleetparadox) did this before for a big forum buy group, just following the example.

Heres their inventory

KF1203
KF1202
KF1302 - $27
KF1303 - $24
KF1401
KF1402
KF1421
KF1502
KF1503 - $53
KF1602
KF1700
KF1812
KF1912

Brian,

Here is the full price list for "Action Sales" (restaurant supply store) in Monterey Park, CA.

KF1202 $43
KF1203 $44
KF1302 $27
KF1303 $24
KF1401 $30
KF1402 $27
KF1421 $42
KF1502 $54
KF1503 $50
KF1602 $45
KF1700 $32
KF1812 $30
KF1912 $28
(Btw, they also carry Dexter and Tarhong cleavers - but I'm guessing no one wants them over the CCK)

I'm sure either Jay or myself would be willing to help get one to you for "at cost". Feel free to PT either of us. (I'm in San Diego 80% of the time so it might take a couple of weeks, maybe Jay might be faster.)

This sounds more simple than than what I did,
I ordered directly from CCK in Hong Kong, Easy to deal with
shipping was not bad thanks to EMS and they hand picked
and packed my somewhat large order very well.
just another option.

If you want the KF11xx line, I found a store in the San Francisco Chinatown that stocks most of the CCK lines. The person at the front desk I talked to while I was there mentioned that they would also take orders by phone and ship your order out to you.

They're the Greatmin Trading Co:

780 Broadway, San Francisco
415.392.2788

When I was there, they charged me $45 for an 1101 and around $35 for a 1301.

First post, by the way.

That is a fair price on the 1101 too. The 11xx series seem to have a little better steel in my opinion too.

Is the finish on the CCK cleavers better than the ones of the TFS?

Because my TFS came looking like a piece of...well it was pretty bad. I got it up to snuff with some work done on it.

None I've see are any better. Remember these are all pretty inexpensive cleavers so fit & finish in many cases won't be up to most standards. They also need a little work in the sharpening area.
