We have been loosing "Knife Rights" since the late 70's and need to start reversing this process before we are only allowed plastic kitchenware.
We have an uphill battle in front of us and its likely we will never go back to the days when I carried a pocket knife in 3rd grade, but we need to reverse this momentum before we loose the right to carry any useful tool that many of us have come to rely on to make our lives easier.
Please Join us in this effort!
Thanks

An army of stags led by a lion would be better than an army of lions led by a stag.
And what can we do? Even if we inundate congress with letters, they are just going to do what THEY want. The peoples vote no longer matters in this day and age.

I disagree. Just look at the NRA, AARP, or AMA (American Motorcyle Association). If you get enough people behind an organization they can have a tremendous amount of clout with congress.
The way to influence government is through a lobbying effort. That is the way government functions now, for better or for worse. Having a "voice" is the only way to let our views be known. I clicked on the site you provided and joined. It sounds like a positive effort to help protect our rights and the knives we enjoy using.
Thanks for bringing this movement to our attention.
You're right. Complaining won't do any good. Every congressman has up to several million constituents for that job.
So get in and play the game. Who elected them? Your money? Whose money? Got any contacts there? Any cutlery firms contribute? Any large sporting groups? Know anybody important in the NRA?
Can you wrangle any decent free publicity showing your man voting in your favor? Can you make a cause out of it for holding American jobs onshore and freedoms and get others onboard and get some press that way?
Politics is a game and a business. Play by the rules like anything else.
Oh yeah, you can do something alright, but complaining ain't it.

If you're not having a good time, you're missing one hell of an opportunity.
I do not do everyday carry (edc). I have kitchen knives and it is that interest that brought me here.
I would support the right of people to carry small pocket knives. I am british and as many of you will know we are quite tightly restricted with only knives under 3" being permitted and no lock knives. I think our customs are getting tight on assisted openers too.
The whole tactical knives thing causes me some disquiet. I understand that many people collect them, and that people here represent responsible knife users. But i think it must be recognised that a lot of these knives have a great appeal to angry young men, and i feel that knife and tool companies should be more responsible in terms of design and marketing.
Of course i also recognise that some of you will have different views on weapon carrying as there is a long history of it in the united states.
I think some of these companies are making a fast buck out of selling these fast opening toys, and that as they come to wider attention there will be a crackdown.
Sorry if my views seem a little confused/ I am actively considering buying a small knife for edc, and i would support people's right to do that. I want a knife that is easy to open one handed, that is sharp, and i would prefer a lock knife as i think that they are safer than nonlocking knives in use. I have childhood memories of penknives shutting in use and nearly catching my fingers.
But tactical styled knives do make me uneasy.
I don't wnat to support companies that market knives as weapons and fetishise that aspect of them. If i support USKTA am i supporting responsible and irresponsible knife makers?
Try living in Australia, unless ypour job requires it, and you can prove this, it is illegal to carry ANY blade. We also have VERY restrictive firearms laws.
However, people are still being killed by both guns and knives, although the statisticians can always 'prove' that many more would have been killed or injured WITHOUT the restictions.
Restricting the availability or legal right to something does stop the average, law-abiding citizen from carrying or owning these items, but, for some strange reason, criminals do NOT observe the restrictions. Pehaps this is why they are criminals
Good luck, keep trying to get the law-makers on your side, votes do count.
"In 2004, the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks concluded that the hijackers in those attacks used short knives -- not box cutters -- to seize control of the planes. At the Pennsylvania crash site, 14 badly damaged knife parts were collected, and at least half have tactical-knife characteristics. But the FBI cautions that it can't be sure those parts are from knives that belonged to the hijackers."
Does anyone else see this statement as a load of BS
I can see it coming and will sign as I think it is the appropriate thing to do..
