We saw some of that CNC stuff in our checkered past. I even bought a state of the art CNC milling machine. $75K worth of hightech precision. Phooey.
I hate that machine. It is a cold thing that has no personality whatsoever.
It is limited to what you can tell it to do mathematically, and it has absolutely no "feel" to it at all.
The user gets no feedback from the machine by way of handwheels or other controls, and the tendency for the machine to act like a machine is, for me, untenable.

The net result was that I prefered to make the knives by hand, as they turned out better. I also enjoyed the process a lot more. That is of paramount importance to me.
I spent no more time cursing computers, which have no rightful place in a "Handmade" shop.

The handmades have a better feel, and we have fewer rejects due to warpage induced during the stock removal process.
You get a better knife, I enjoy the work a lot more, and everything is cool.
