Welcome partner; I have only 1 CRKT, a M16-03Z and the steel is AUS 4 but out of a couple hundred knives I own; it seems to have pretty useless steel. I am very adept at sharpening using synthetic waterstones, I have tried angles from 12 to 30 degrees inclusive. Also used grits from 220 to 8K.
I love the design but I just can't get any combination that stays sharp. I've even considered having a new blade made with 154CM or even good old 1095. Your blade is 5CR15MoV; so we're comparing apples to oranges. Here's a link that gives comparisons,
