"As they say in Italy, Italians were eating with a knife and fork when the French were still eating each other. The Medici family had to bring their Tuscan cooks up there so they could make something edible"
So I'm working with TC over at TC Blades. We pretty much have the blade nailed down, I think, but we are talking about the handle. This will be a western handle, and he does a very nice job with them. After seeing some quick sketches, I came up with a slight modification of one of his sketches (attached picture). Because I thought it looked nice on the handle I included a "name plate". But here's the thing, I have no idea what it would say. I hate the idea of it actually being my name.
SO. If you were going to have a "name plate" on a knife that could be engraved to say something OTHER THAN your name, what would you have it say.
Perhaps, but the family crest isn't really all that interesting. That and we've never been able to trace our family much further back then William Prescott, so I'm not sure I could legitimately use it.
I'm thinking of removing the name plate altogether and instead try to use a more elaborate segmentation to make the handle pop. And where better to draw inspiration from when talking handles than Fish's gallery. He did a bit of experimenting with what I'll call a "hybrid" handle, something we're trying to do with this knife. Technically western, but having the feel of a wa. This suji really typifies that for me.
Thanks for the ideas. Though to keep it shorter and PG-13 I'd probably just put on "Bad-Ass Mother"
