While I try to keep the costs low, there are values to protect.
There are many functions the storage solution has to solve.
    Protection against
    impact
    humidity
    UV-light
    theft
and it also has to make it "be avaliable", while not getting into the way.
It has to fullfill a certain role of documentation (especially so if you store things separately - find the sheat, letters, boxes etc).

    Hope this helps

I haven't found a perfect solution yet, short of building wooden locking cabinets from scratch. My most valuable knives are locked in tool chests, and some are locked in an old store display cabinet.

The problem with using tool chests for most of the collection, the drawers are too shallow, especially for fixed-blades. Most of my knives still have the original boxes, sheathes, etc.

I'd love to find an affordable lockable set of drawers. Each drawer 4" high and 20-24" deep, and the total cabinet size around 4-6' feet tall and 4-5 feet wide.
