I did a 46 mile solo through the Tarryall mountain range, in Colorado. I was in and out in 77 hours. It was a good hike as my pack weighed in at 70 LBS. at the start. Heavy, because I want to get ready for some mountaineering. Good training hike in some beautiful country...I used a spot unit and it worked perfectly!!!

    First day. My pack.

    Heading in.

    Lot's of thick woods.

    Wild edibles.

Climbing higher up the valley. First day I climbed from 8000 to lake park at 10,8000.

    Aspens just starting to change.

    More to come.

    More of the first day.

Top of Hankins pass and heading up to Lake park.

    My only self pic.

    Here Kitty Kitty!

    Getting highr still, looking out.

Finally the trail into lake park.

Just in time, as hail was rolling in...

    Next morning was pretty frosty...

    My little stove.

    No trace left behind.

First ridge to climb, to get out of lake park.

Top of the ridge loking back.

At the top of the ridge was this rock wall.

When you climbed to the top and looked over.

Second day was long. I got down from lake park and headed up around McCurdy peak.

    McCurdy Tower.

Higher up I got a better view.

Heading up to the top of the pass.

    Looking back.

    Great views up high.

Right at timber line for a good amount of the day.

    Trail got thin.

    Camp is down there.

Third day had lots of valley hiking.

    more to come.

Makes me feel like Texas has nothing to offer...

However, a Big Bend trip next month may prove me wrong.

    Great pictures!

Thanks fellas. Hey Rab, I did a 15 day pack trip through the Solitario down near Big bend. That was at least 15 years ago now, but the desert has it's own appeal. It was with the group I went to Arizona with in 09.

Great set of pics. I especially liked the photo of the aspen leaf. We are lucky to live here.
