In the movie Deaf Smith and Johnny Ears, Anthony Quinn makes frequent use of a fixed blade. I only got fleeting glimpses of it. Any info available on the knife?

Never even heard of this film let alone seen it.

I think someone tried to start a thread to list movies and the knives used in them. Since many of the designs for knives and swords came out of the acid pickled brains of various movie prop personnel with no relationship to knives with any historical or practical links I think the "Movie Prop Knife" label got a bit too monotonous and the project died an early death

Add to this the knives used on TV and .............

BTW - has anyone ID'd the knife used in Psycho? That appears to be the most realistic portrayal of the type of knife used in the majority of assaults = kitchen knife from the second drawer.

I've been trying to find that knife info out for you, without much luck... you might consider asking on Yahoo Answers, under the category either hunting and/or movies. It's a bit of a long shot, but you may just get results. If I find out which knife you're looking for, I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks for your consideration guys. As near as I can see, it reminded me of the Bark River Escort boot knife.

I never realized that Deaf Smith was real. Maybe his knife is also in some museum. Erastus 'Deaf' Smith, Texas revolutionary war hero, played by Anthony Quinn.

Not that I know of Papi.

His Legacy is the County in Texas that was named after him and a brand of peanut Butter also named after him in the 1960s.

Having spent a bit of time in Bexar, I'm familiar with his exploits...we might consider him one of the first American operators.
